Fun games to play on a road trip
If you’re looking for a way to make your road trip a little more interesting, why not try out some fun car games? These games are sure to keep everyone entertained, and they’re perfect for when you don’t want to be stuck looking at a screen the whole time.
“Cows on my side!”
This game is perfect for when you’re driving through farmland. To score a point, simply shout, “Cows on my side!” every time you see a cow on your side of the vehicle. If you spot a cow on the other side of the car before the other person, say: “Cows on your side!” and score a point. If you see a cemetery, scream “Ghost cow!” and steal all their points
Did somebody fall asleep? Prank them with “While you were Sleeping.”
This game is great when someone falls asleep. The awake passengers come up with a believable story and each person takes turns adding to the story. Once the snoozer wakes up, you have to get them to believe the story. If somebody breaks character, they lose a point. If somebody goes off script, you ask, “Are you sure?” and then that person is silenced and loses two points.
• If you successfully fool the person, each storyteller gets three points. The one with the most points at the destination wins.
• If the sleeping passenger realizes that it is a prank – the snoozer wins
Name the artist
One person in the car picks a song and starts playing it, and then everyone else has to try to guess who the artist is. The first person to guess correctly gets to pick the next song. You can make this game even more challenging by only allowing songs from a certain era, or from a specific genre of music. The other variation of the game is even easier – just turn on the radio and whenever a new song comes on, the first person to name the artist gets a point.
Kiss, Marry, Kill
This is a classic game that can be played with pretty much anything – people, TV shows, books, you name it. For this version of the game, each person takes turns naming three celebrities (or characters, or whatever) and then the other people in the car have to choose which one they would kiss, which one they would marry, and which one they would kill.
I Spy
This is a classic game that’s perfect for road trips because it can be played without anything other than your eyes and your imagination. One person starts by saying “I spy with my little eye something that is [color/shape/size].” Then everyone else in the car takes turns guessing what it is until somebody gets it right.
Most Likely To
For this game, each person takes turns asking a “most likely to” question, and then everyone else in the car has to answer. For example: “Who is most likely to get pulled over for speeding?” or “Who is most likely to get lost on this road trip?” You can make the questions as light-hearted or as serious as you want.
Would You Rather?
This is another classic game that’s perfect for a road trip. One person asks a “would you rather” question, and then everyone else has to answer. For example: “Would you rather have to listen to the same song on repeat for the rest of the trip, or only be able to speak in movie quotes?” The options are endless.
Sweet or Sour
This game is great if you have kids. Every time the car passes, wave to the passengers. If they wave back – they are “sweet” and you get a point. If they are “sour” – too bad! Did someone get 10 points? This person wins!
“Never have I ever”
This is a great game to get to know your fellow passengers better. One person starts by saying something they’ve never done, and then everyone else who has done that thing has to bite a candy or put down a finger. Got all ten fingers? Game over!
These are just some of the best games to play on a road trip that will keep everyone entertained for hours. And don’t forget to have plenty of snacks and drinks on hand to keep everyone happy. Safe travels!
